How beautiful is this cultural garment display I found in a local mall? From India to China, they featured the most beautiful brocades and silks!

BIONIC RAPTURE
Bionic Rapture is the transformation of an individual who has found strength, confidence and determination from a life changing event that impacts their world forever. It is about the death of the person they once were and the beginning of their new life. Bionic Rapture is influenced by today’s health and technology advancements and how these shape our world and our future. Bionic Rapture incorporates French Brocade to represent bionic body parts and uses soft cottons such as organic jersey to represent a spiritual transformation.
Bionic Rapture is a woman’s wear collection that transfers from day to night for the career woman who leads a hectic and ever changing life style. With asymmetrical details, detachable and reversible elements and sharp lines, Bionic Rapture is a bold and sophisticated collection.
I just realized I never posted the official Bionic Rapture photos from the summer shoot I blogged about previously. Here they are!
If you would like to purchase any of these pieces you can find them on my Etsy Shop.

I listed this beautiful asymmetrical dress (finally) on my Etsy
shop!
I love this dress. It offers the best of both: knee length and maxi. I can show off my favourite heels and have fun with the maxi trend. I also love the brocade insert near the left side seam. It adds a sci-fi element to the dress.
I cannot wait to team up with my photographer friends and take some pictures of it!
What do you think!
A variety of garments are being sewn for my Etsy store! Here’s a little glimpse into a few of the items I’m working on.

Highlights of Toronto/World Mastercard Fashion Week
Spring Summer 2013 Collections- PAVONI and PINK TARTAN
Pavoni:
Montreal designers, Mike Derderian and Gianni Falcone are the creative forces behind Pavoni. In their 2013 collection, we saw 3 different looks: sexy cocktail dresses, romantic chiffon evening dresses and the big huge ball gowns. All three looks featured stunning bead work and embroidery which really made the gowns stand out that much more.
Extravagant is certainly a good word choice to describe this collection! Not everyone can wear these gowns, but they certainly are beautiful to dream about.Pavoni’s clients (like Shakira and Fergie) are some of the lucky ones who we probably will see strutting these dream-like gowns.
Pink Tartan:
Designed by Kimberley Newport-Mimran, we see classic styles with some fun modern twists. The biggest attraction from the show? Re-working the staple t-shirt into bold shapes, patterns and unexpected fabrics like gold perforated leather. I loved the brocade trapeze coats and full brocade skirts…so lady-like, but modern with the metallic colours!

Featured on VOGUE’s website…Which of the 11 coats are you?
I really love Bohemian Rhapsody, The Trench, Winter White and Night Moves. I know, I know. That’s four out of eleven. But four coats seem fitting enough for a wardrobe…don’t you think?
Number 11 is Check Mate! Check out the link to see the picture!
- Head-to-toe black
- heavy layered knits
- built-up necklines
- patterned pant suits
- velvet
- cigarette pants vs. oversized pants
- china brocades vs. ’60s a-line colour blocking
- burgundy red and assorted jewel tones vs. pastels
- peplums
- bead work
- prints baroque influences
- furs, ornate accessories with unusual details
This is a season of extremes, statements, standouts and more IS more!!!
How do we make sure we don’t get weighed down from all the elaborate, fun new trends? It all goes back to the Principles of Art:
- unity
- harmony
- movement
- variety
- balance
- rhythm
- emphasis
- contrast
- proportion
- pattern.
For instance: balance, emphasis and proportion.
What is your body type? What do you want to hide and emphasize? The key to achieve this is to balance 1-2 statement trends with a classic pieces. Choose trends that bring attention to your face. This helps elongate the body by bringing the wandering eye upwards. The mandarin-inspired collars are great for this. Give yourself a waist. It helps bring everything together. A small frame can’t always support oversized pieces. A taller frame can!
The pantsuit is a popular trend. It also can seem too bold because of the brocade prints. The key is to find the perfect print for your skin tone. Make sure you pick one that is tailored and pay attention to the direction and size of the print. Does it lengthen or widen your bodies in unappealing areas? Don’t be afraid to wear a pantsuit that is a matching jacket and bottom. You can wear these two pieces with a blouse. A neutral blouse breaks up the bold print in a less intimidating manner.
All black is popular trend. It is used in rich details such as brocades, leathers, furs, beading, sheers, and embroidery. It’s a great way to take those bolder statements and tone them down. My favourite thing about the “all black” is that you can use the wonderful accessories of the fall to brighten up the look:
- Bright, elaborate pin
- baroque inspired shoes
- pattern blocked purse
- bold necklaces
- long earrings
- scarves
